ABOUT *V*I*R*G*O*

*V*I*R*G*O* takes both name and inspiration from the sign of his birth. True to the Zodiac, *V*I*R*G*O* is a keen observer of the world around him. His razor-sharp tongue cuts straight to the bone, and he is rarely at a loss for words. His music is a dark and sensual electro-fantasy.

A true groove scientist, *V*I*R*G*O* constantly seeks new sounds and innovative ways to create them. From these sounds, he weaves rich rhythmic and harmonic textures which carry intricate detail for the skilled listener. Still, his inspired vocals and unique stylistic approach are what set him apart. He approaches both the angry defiance of one track and the brooding sensuality of another with equal and unflinching sincerity. In the tradition of classical and blues musicians, he has developed a keen sense of vocal expression, crafting his sound with skill and precision.

*V*I*R*G*O*'s debut single, Alpha Male, was released in the summer of 2001, launched in true *V*I*R*G*O* style with a release party at NYC's legendary Limelight nightclub. In the following months, Alpha Male received international radio play and was listed as one of Outvoice's Top 50 Tracks of the Year. *V*I*R*G*O*'s follow-up LP Moderate Extremism was released on December 12, 2002, with a release party at Void (NYC). Even in advance of the disc's official release, several tracks had already begun to earn substantial radio play, and Moderate Extremism continues to generate airplay and chart rankings around the world. It was listed as one of Outvoice's top 50 albums of 2003, and several tracks from the album were featured in the film 'Das Hause'.

Throughout his career, *V*I*R*G*O*'s inimitable live appearances have captivated audiences across the US. His intense, impassioned performance style and over-the-top theatricality have been aptly called 'mesmerizing', as evidenced by his recent performance project, 'Cyburlesque', an innovative multimedia piece featuring a talented supporting cast performing music from his Moderate Extremism LP, as well as stunning video projections by Jessica Shaw, costumes by avant-garde designer Yaron Zino, and a cyber-fetish photo exhibit by Jo Lance.

*V*I*R*G*O* is currently touring with his hard-hitting three piece band, which includes keyboardist Gordon Smith, bassist Toshio Mana, and drummer Anthony Maulella. *V*I*R*G*O*'s recorded music is a world alive with towering machines and coursing electronic pulses, but onstage, he and his band strip down those mechanical beasts to the bare, metallic flesh. Their driving, high-energy performances leave the crowds exhausted but ecstatic.

*V*I*R*G*O*'s work is all about pushing the envelope, creatively and otherwise. He deeply values the inherent power of music - its ability to break barriers and deal with complex issues and feelings ... and its ability to groove.

And if you're not grooving to *V*I*R*G*O*'s music, you're not listening hard enough.
